An Unexpectedly Early Post

I've been awake since shortly after 3 a.m. when Winston came meowing at our bedroom door. Poor kitty...he just hasn't been the same since we lost Jasper. Don invited him to sleep with us, but he declined. Moments later, Don was back asleep. I lay there, trying to get back to sleep, but apparently it's my destiny today to be up early. So many thoughts have run through my mind this morning already...events and feelings from the past, things going on in our lives presently, you know...vague, exciting stuff like that, :-). Shortly before arising, I looked over at Don and thought how beautiful he is and how blessed I am to be connected with him, *contented sigh*. With so much craziness going on in our lives, nation, and world right now, we are especially happy to have each other to come home to. Sometimes the mad rush of life catches up to us and one or the other or both of us end up in tears, but at least those tears are honored without judgement. How does one measure gratitude when it comes to matters like this, if at all possible? My best guess is that the measurement is in heartfulls. At moments like now, my heart is full and overflowing with gratitude for this man who has asked me to share Life with him as I'm sure his is also. I'll end this post with my favorite quote from a little book Don gave me as the first gift in our relationship:

Rune Drawing For Yesterday

I wanted to include a photo of this rune but, a) I couldn't locate a downloadable list of runes and b) I STILL don't know how to upload photos as a regular part of my posts, grrrrrrrr!!! Anyway, the rune drawn was Hagalaz: Disruptive Natural Forces. I'll let the text have its say with my comment following:

"Change, freedom, invention, and liberation are all attributes of this Rune. Drawing it indicates a pressing need within the psyche to break free from constricting identification with material reality and to experience the world of archetypal mind. The Rune of elemental disruption, of events that seem to be totally beyond your control, Hagalaz has only an upright position, and yet it always operates through reversal. When you draw this Rune, expect disruption, for it is the Great Awakener, although the form the awakening takes may vary. Perhaps you will experience a gradual feeling of coming to your senses, as though you were emerging from a long sleep. Then again, the onset of power may be such as to rip away the fabric of what you previously knew as your reality, your security, your understanding of yourself, your work, your relationships or beliefs. Be aware, however, that what operates here is not ultimately an outside force, not a situation of you-at-the-mercy-of-externals. Your own nature is creating what is happening, and you are not without power. The inner strength you have funded until now in your life is your support and guide at a time when everything you've taken for granted is being challenged. The more severe the disruption in your life, the more significant and timely requirements for your growth. Whew! Heavy stuff, but good nonetheless. This, of course, ties into the dream I had recently (see earlier posts) and things have definitely evolved as the text states it. Situations of late have forced me to step back from everything and give it all a thorough reassessment, to indeed question much of what I have become comfortable with. Presently, as I am experiencing a financial dry spell, I am drawn to and engaging in self-healing and spiritual growth. The feeling is that of being in a crucible, yet, I feel quite good about it all.
