As of yesterday when, for the umpteenth time, my "lunch" at work was filled with appointments, I have resolved to see what legal measures can be taken to stop this disrespectful practice on the part of my employer. Suffice it to say that the pot has been boiling for some time now and the lid is ready to come off. For entirely too long have I and my colleagues/coworkers been deprived of proper mealbreaks because "it's all about the client." I have tried, repeatedly and to no avail, to resolve this with management but they will do nothing. When I asked for a simple regularly scheduled lunch break (something one would think one wouldn't have to even ask for in the first place), I was told that a static lunch break "wasn't in the nature of the business." So in a few minutes I am calling the state attorney general's office to see what can be done. Just knowing that my employer may be put on notice by legal authority gives me a sense of satisfaction. And if they even try to fire me...can we say wrongful termination lawsuit?
