The Birthday Celebration :-)
Feb. 8th, 2003 11:05 amEverything really began last Saturday when a gift package arrived from my Mom. The list of goodies includes:
1. a way cool new Sony CD Walkman!
2. batteries for the Walkman
3. two cookbooks
4. a cute little notepad
5. a spatter screen for use when pan frying food
She also sent a card that so perfectly illustrated and stated her love for me as her son that it made me cry. At one point, I literally had to stop reading because my eyes were flooded with tears of gratitude. Wow. She's never done that before. She got me. I love my Mom sooooooooooo much.
Later that day a piece of mail came addressed to me which Don and I both thought was some kind of junk mail. Upon opening it to investigate, I discovered a $50 gift card to Bed Bath & Beyond from my oldest sister. You know...the insanely generous one, :-). Kewl gift!
Now for the rest. Don arrived home Thursday evening with champagne and flowers. I was so touched at his thoughtfulness. This man truly knows my heart like no other. Then yesterday at work, a client who heard about my birthday took my hand and sang Happy Birthday to me in jazz form. People heard her all over the salon and loved it! It was a real blessing to receive such a unique gift. After work, Don, Cindy, and a friend we haven't seen in way too long joined me in Bar 10, a favorite watering hole of ours, for cocktails and appetizers. We drank and ate and drank and ate and drank some more...you get the idea. Anyway, after leaving there, Don and Cindy took me to Bomboa, our favorite upscale restaurant in town. The level of decadence we reached there is just plain wrong, ;-). I won't even say how much or how many things we drank, ate, blah, blah, blah. I favorite server was there and he took extra special care of us finding just the right glasses, dishes, and champagne server. It was a totally over-the-top experience. This morning I am paying a dear price for last night's festivities, but it is soooooooooooo worth it, :-). One more thing: Cindy gave me the first season of South Park! Woo!Hoo! Talk about spoiled, hehehe.
