Home Ipmrovement
Oct. 17th, 2002 07:37 amThis past weekend we schlepped hither, thither, and yon, fetching various and sundry supplies with which we forthwith transformed our previously mundane front room and bathroom into grand expressions of who we are. Whew! A mouthful, eh? But it's true. We went to Kmart, Home Depot, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond for everything from paint to picture hangers to new shelves. And now we have a fabulous new front room and bathroom...each complete with freshly hung artwork and other beautiful home accents. My personal favorite is a piece I matted and framed for the front room. It is the back cover of the Fire Island News from our stay there last year when we got engaged. Featured in the picture is an ad from Absolut Vodka depicting a bottle-shaped boardwalk leading to the beach with dunes on either side and the ocean and sky visible on the horizon. In large letters at the bottom it reads, "Absolut Fire Island." Needles to say, we treausre it for it's obvious meaning to us, :-). We so enjoyed repainting both rooms, hanging all the cool new (and some old) stuff even though by Monday night we were beat. This coming weekend we are tackling the kitchen and pantry area so they can also have the fresh new look instead of that hideous border and ucky cracked paint everywhere. Now here's the really cool part: the landlady called and spoke with Don and she is THRILLED about our work! She's also waiting until we're done and then she's having a new kitchen floor and stove put in for us! Woo! Hoo! Judy is one awesome landlady! So it looks like we are FINALLY beginning to make this place into the home we really want. After all the fixing up, we are getting some furniture so we can actually have people over for dinner, parties, and even overnight stays, :-). We are two VERY happy campers,*snoopy dancing all around*.
