Wedding/Family Trip Part 1
Nov. 12th, 2002 07:05 amOur trip to Oklahoma and Texas with the concurrent meeting of each other's families and the Don's sister's wedding proved to be a time of testing and strengthening of our relationship. It was great to see my family and introduce them to Don (they took to him like ducks to water) and to meet Don's family so I could get an idea of how the dynamics were there as well. We stayed in a very nice hotel in Plano, Texas where the wedding was held and enjoyed the amenities and interacting with family members and friends who had arrived from near and far for this grand event. Everyone at the rehearsal and dinner thoroughly enjoyed themselves and Don and I got to hear a really cool wedding proposal story involving a friend of Matt's skydiving to pop the question! The wedding itself was beautiful and Melissa and Matt were in all their glory as everyone agreed how perfect they are for each other. Traveling back to Oklahoma afterward, we spent more time with my family and feasted on an early Thanksgiving dinner since we won't be there for the holiday. Finally, drained and ready to be home, we caught our last flights to Boston yesterday, arriving home to one very angst-filled kitty (he'd never spent that much time away from us), tired and yet determined to move forward in spite of the unexpected surprise we experienced on this trip.
