A Quiet Celebration
Nov. 15th, 2002 07:52 amYesterday was my fifth birthday. Now before any confusion ensues please allow some clarification. Five years ago yesterday, the real me emerged into this life for the first time as I stepped out of that deep, dank, self-imposed prison known as the closet. There was chaos, of course, as a marriage of ten years came to its bitter end. I had tried to fit into the mold which society and the church said I belonged in...to no avail. Some things simply are not meant to be. As I made my way into Boston yesterday, I refelcted on the past five years and whether things were improved over that time. The obvious answer is an absolute YES! That's not to say that all is perfect, comfortable, or made all nice. There are ripple effects still in place which will most likely be there for the remainder of my days. The point is: I'm living in a city I love with the man I love doing the work I love. Could anyone ask for more?
