Too much of a good thing?
May. 4th, 2002 09:08 amWell it's happened yet again, folks. My Honey and I have been taken to new depths of corruption with a most decadent catalyst: chocolate martinis. Mind you, the first time I ever heard of them I thought, "Ewwww, how gross." But then some friends of ours held a party the other night which featured this sinister concoction and it was foisted on those of us who were naive as to its hedonistic qualities and were forthwith lured into its clutches. Alas...such sweet innonence...forever lost, ;-). Needless to say, we had a good time...and this in spite of a few, um, interesting factors. 1) a friend who is normally a quiet little sweetie had had one too many and spilled half of my first cocktail all over my clothes in her drunken enthusiasm to greet me. 2) after a protracted period of waiting for another cocktail to replace or at least refill the first, this guy we met very cheerfully made another which he then divvied up 3 WAYS!!! 3) during the aforementioned waiting period, I kind of pissed off our host with a little too much expressed impatience, 4) after realising that it was simply best to switch to wine at Don's very practical suggestion, we then encountered this very scary girl. She was a sort of Mariah Carey wannabe, was r-e-a-l-l-y enjoying the drinks, and started hitting on damn near every man in the place, including US! Hello? We are a GAY COUPLE...get it, sweetie? All in all, though, the party turned out well. I made amends with our host by giving him an impromptu back, neck, and shoulder massage. And our inebriated friend along with her husband and the friends who hosted the party agreed that we should all definitely do brunch together...and soon. How's that for a memorable evening?
By the way...the saga of corruption continues. Last night, after having dinner out with friends, who by the way picked up the tab as an engagement gift to us, we stopped by our local liquor store and picked up the makings of...you guessed it...chocolate martinis. We just HAD to have a proper dessert drink, ;-). *contented sigh* It's all good.
