Post Holiday Update
Jan. 13th, 2003 10:22 amThe past few weeks have been fraught with busy holiday celebrations, hard work, a certain degree of ambivalence toward a number of things(forgive me if that sounds too vague...I'm having a temporary "duh" moment), and an optimistic outlook regarding the Path forward. We spent the holiday season here in the Boston area as we had neither the means or the desire to go elsewhere. We are both still dealing with the ripple effects of our southwestern US trip in November resulting in a much quieter season this year...the expectation being that this may be the case permanently. As far as celebrations and gifts...we had several gatherings with friends for gift exchange and our usual hedonistic feasts, :-). My best friend, Cindy, gave us a brand new dvd player! Woo Hoo! So Christmas day we spent together, just the two of us, watching dvds on our new toy. My oldest sister also sent us a breadmaker, a $50 Target gift card, AND a food processor! I informed her with the thank you call that she is utterly insane to be so generous! It appears that she is impressed with her little brother and his future husband. Needless to say, we've already gotten a lot of mileage out of what she gave us. New Year's was spent at Cindy's place with friends from the D.C. area. While the celebration went really well, the next morning I awoke with the bug from hell and nearly passed out with nausea and achiness. The good news is that it was only a 24 hour thing so I was good as new for work the following day.
Today I am enjoying another quiet Monday at home, thinking about what a great weekend we just had and looking forward to what lies ahead. Yesterday we watched three very intense dvds. The first was Insomnia with Al Pacino, Hilary Swank, and Robin Williams. It literally had us squirming and at the edges of our seats all the way through. Next we watched Iris with our favorite British actress, Judy Dench. Honestly, we have never seen her act better. The film was powerfully and deeply moving as we bawled our eyes out. We finished the day with The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me which was uproariously funny and poignant...not always an easy accomplishment. To synopsize our viewing in their respective order: 1. The end never justifies the means. 2. Love is all that really matters. 3. Be real and keep fighting for what's right...no matter what.
NEWS FLASH
We have officially set a wedding date! That's right folks. These two boys are tying the knot on June 20, 2004, on the eve of Litha. We already have the ceremony and reception sites picked out and the entertainment as well. We will be getting married at the House of Seven Gables in Salem, Massachusetts with the reception following at Hamilton Hall(also in Salem) featuring music by the Neal Perry Orchestra. I am currently working on gathering all the planning information together in a planner of sorts...suggestions are invited, :-). More information will be posted as it is available.
That's about everything. Don is starting classes again today and is really psyched about his career path. It is such a delight to see him enjoying work and school so well.
*big contented sigh* Life is beautiful.
