Tomorrow night George W. Bush will present his State of the Union address to the nation. We need your help to make sure he doesn't get away with another lofty speech that trades platitudes for policy.

We need your help to make sure that people truly understand the gap between this Administation's rhetoric and their actions. Forward this email and help spread the word:
On foreign policy: Bush pushes forward with war in Iraq despite growing public concern, little to no support internationally, and no explanation for why.
On the economy: Bush gave millionaires an average tax break of $90,000 per year rather than providing relief for the most overburdened workers.
On the budget: Bush's economic proposal will put the federal government into deficit - estimated at $350 billion in 2003.
On health care: Bush's Medicare plan would force seniors to join an HMO in order to obtain drug coverage - rather than keeping them with the doctors they already have and trust.
On education: Bush has proposed the weakest education budget in 7 years - and he's refusing to fully fund his so-called "No Child Left Behind Act."
People are starting to catch on. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, 53 percent of Americans disapprove of the way Bush is handling the economy. 61 percent think Bush's latest tax scheme is just a giveaway to the wealthy. And, by more than 2 to 1, Americans would rather see the money for Bush's tax scheme go to education, health care, and Social Security.

But if this uncertainty is going to translate into real political change, we need you to become more active. Go to our secure site at https://secure.ctsg.com/progressive/donate.asp and make a contribution today. We need your help to replenish our coffers and elect more progressives to office. We're already hard at work for 2003-2004, and your help now will make a big difference.

Help raise awareness about the discrepencies between Bush's words and his actions:
Forward this email to friends.
Encourage people you know to join Progressive Majority and help our network grow.
Participate in online polling, chat rooms or other ways that news organizations will try to guage public opinion during Bush's speech tomorrow night.
Thanks for making sure this Administration doesn't get away with saying one thing and doing another. Together, we can hold them accountable - in Washington, DC and at the ballot box!

Sincerely,
Gloria A. Totten
