Feelings of Despondency

I am sickened this morning by the ultimatum issued by that warmongering excuse of a leader in the White House. As I read the reports of war preparations, the obvious delight with which military leaders look forward to laying waste to Iraq put knots in my stomach. That patch of sand happens to be home to far more innocent people than guilty. What of all the young ones...the ones under the age of fifteen years who represent half the population? Of those who survive this atrocity against humanity, they will surely grow up deeply hating and resenting America and its "allies." This insanity is doing nothing but perpetuating the cycle of terror....a cycle which will come full circle again as these child survivors reach the age and means of striking back at an aggressor who has forever wounded their collective psyche...apparently beyond repair. And people wonder why there is so much anger toward America. I wish that every soldier, every airman, every sailor, every marine, and especially every military commander, would somehow be stricken with the sights, sounds, and horrors of this war as viewed and experienced through the eyes of every Iraqi child. The adults have at least some frame of reference as to how destructive war can be and how someone living safely in a land far away can command their deaths, but the children have no such frame of reference. They only know that for some nameless "reason" they and their families are being brutally murdered by people who follow the orders of someone in a position of power...someone who lives safely in a land far away...
