Father's Day
Jun. 15th, 2003 10:54 pmIt is a sunny afternoon at the Middlesex Fells Reservation just a short distance outside of Boston and we are quietly reflecting on the afternoon we have spent hiking the trails, taking photographs, and adding to our life experience together. As we sit on a rock outside the Reservation waiting for a cab, my thoughts reflect on a message from my Mom wishing me a happy Father's Day and my feelings around that. Originally I wrote a really poignant post for this journal and then "lost" it before I could update the journal. How convenient. Yes...I have children. And no, I do NOT want to go into all the drama which surrounds this most delicate of topics with me. Suffice it to say that I followed religious and societal expectations...with another, equally deluded person...and now have to deal with the fallout from listening to external input rather than simply living authentically...as should have been the case from the outset. *sigh* Oh well. Life goes on.
