My Son's Birthday
Aug. 24th, 2004 10:36 amAriel turned 14 today. I called him this morning to wish him a happy birthday and to see how he was planning on spending his day. It was good to hear his voice (which has changed from that of a boy into a growing young man) and to discover the pleasant surprise that his favorite color is the same as mine: green. It was also good to learn that he and his sisters did indeed receive the Boston postcards I sent. I was genuinely concerned that their mother would throw them away when she saw OUR names (including the new last name we took) on the return mailing address label. While I love my kids and enjoy talking with them it is difficult at best to feel like I have to walk on eggshells because their mother has issues. They know, however, that the day is coming when we'll be able to sit down together and talk freely about anything they like. I live for that day.
