So I'm home sick today. It seems like everyone and their mother too is coming down with one type of bug or another. It would be great to go in to work today, but it just ain't gonna happen, :-(. At least there's plenty of Echinacea tea to drink and Don offered to stop at the drugstore and bring anything else I need on the way home from work. Did that make sense? I'm having trouble even typing.

Yesterday I had the privilege of taking care of one of my colleagues from one of our other work locations. It was she who evaluated my skills for hire and to this day I owe her a continuous debt of heartfelt gratitude. I also made arrangements with her to get a massage from her on my birthday next week! Woo! Hoo! It's been over two years since I had a complete, full body massage. I can't wait. I've already arranged to have the day off as I've decided that I'm never working on my birthday again. After the massage, I'm going for a leisurely lunch somewhere and then who knows how the day will unfold? As for gifts, if I could have what I truly want it would be the complete and permanent removal of all weapons of mass destruction from the planet and the knowledge of how to make them. Period. It's nice to dream, eh?

This is a comparison between a quote from the so-called "commander in chief" of the armed forces and a quote from a handbook created and utilized by a branch of the armed forces. Let the reader decide who has a better grip on reality.

1. President George W. Bush, when he was governor of Texas in 1999, told ABC, "I don't think witchcraft is a religion" and urged the military to reconsider allowing Wiccans at Fort Hood to worship.

I just called in to work and I have a full book today! This really puts things in a spot, but I simply can't risk making myself any sicker or exposing clients and staff either. This blows. I love my work and where I work is a cool place. My clients are people who genuinely appreciate what we accomplish in session together and always leave relaxed and happy. *sigh* The manager is a real angel and although she expressed dismay at the situation, she readily fell to the task of trying to get coverage for those appointments. She's awesome, she's a Diva, and I totally worship the ground on which she walks. I just hope I'm well enough to work tomorrow. Being at home sick totally sucks.

This seemed appropriate in view of all the activist attitudes and actions I've been experiencing of late. Focus is everything.

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of the Goddess they were,
But mine were not along the shore.
But then some stranger prints appeared,
and I asked Her, "What have we here?
These prints are large and round and neat,
But much too big to be from feet."
"My child," She said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."
"You would not learn, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt.
"Because in life, there comes a time
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."
